{"id":43696,"date":"2021-11-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalbison.org\/bison-scholarships-awarded-to-three-university-students\/"},"modified":"2025-02-27T07:32:00","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T14:32:00","slug":"bison-scholarships-awarded-to-three-university-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalbison.org\/bison-scholarships-awarded-to-three-university-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Bison Scholarships Awarded to Three University Students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Throlson Bison Foundation Awards $15,000 in Financial Support<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WESTMINSTER, CO (November 11, 2021) \u2013 Three emerging livestock industry leaders received welcomed financial support this month as they were named recipients of the 2022 Throlson American Bison Foundation scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Throlson Foundation scholarship review committee reviewed numerous applications and narrowed it down to three stand-out students. This year\u2019s recipients includes funding from the Rich Zahringer Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports those students who focus on agricultural business and accounting in recognition of the fund\u2019s namesake, who was a longtime bison industry accountant and is among the pioneers of the modern bison-business. The scholarship is made possible by Rocky Mountain Natural Meats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s scholarship recipients include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kelley Duggan \u2013 Colorado State University \u2013 Animal Sciences<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Sam Stroup \u2013 Texas A&amp;M University \u2013Veterinary Medicine<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Bradly Wehus-Tow \u2013 South Dakota State University \u2013 Animal Sciences<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The primary mission of the foundation is to annually award scholarships in bison related studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some previous winning students have pursued degrees in veterinary medicine (production or pathology research), nutrition (livestock or meat), animal science, and behavior science.
